Vehicle Finance Explained

There are three main types of finance deals that you might want to consider:

Hire Purchase (HP)

Hire Purchase, often referred to as HP, is a loan secured against the vehicle itself. It's an ideal choice if you want to spread the cost of your vehicle over fixed monthly payments. Typically, you'll pay an initial deposit followed by monthly instalments plus interest. Once you've made your final payment, the vehicle is yours to own outright.

Personal Contract Purchase (PCP)

PCP is a popular option for drivers who enjoy changing their vehicle every few years. You'll usually pay a deposit followed by lower monthly payments than a typical HP agreement. At the end of the agreement, you'll have the choice to pay the remaining balance to own the vehicle, return it, or use any remaining value towards your next vehicle.

Personal Leasing (Contract Hire)

Contract Hire works in a similar way to PCP, with fixed monthly payments over an agreed term. However, unlike PCP, there is no option to purchase the vehicle at the end of the agreement, making it an ideal choice for those who prefer to lease rather than own.
